Vtech was in need of a package redesign to help reposition their products securely in the higher end of the cordless phone market. Our early work focused on the 900MHz digital cordless phone products. We came up with a two-sided strategy that we developed from our research within the existing dealer network. Dealers were evenly split in their packaging preferences, so we gave them both. We simply thought of the box as having two front facings. One front with a soft human image with the primary 900MHz Digital message. The "second" front offered detailed technological features and their related benefits. Dealers embraced the flexibility of the package design and the point-of-sale display opportunities it provided. Vtech has experienced dramatic sales growth and market expansion and is considered the leader in the cordless phone category.
